FAQ
Is there a charge for USk San Diego membership? No, USk is a non-profit organization and ‘membership’ essentially means “have attended the chapter events”. Past participation is not necessary to attend the USk San Diego 2022 Seminar or any future chapter events.
How do I purchase tickets? Registration opens at 8:00AM PDT on June 26, and a link will be provided on this website.
How much does it cost? The USk San Diego 2022 Seminar costs $50.00.
Can I buy a ticket for someone else too? Yes, but the information provided at registration must be for the person attending the event. Tickets sold are non-transferable, so please ensure that the information provided is accurate before purchasing.
Is there a minimum age requirement? Participants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the event.
What is the refund policy? Refunds may be requested up to 30 days after registration/purchase, but no later than July 31th, 2022. USk San Diego reserves the right to apply a $10 (USD) cancellation fee for all refunds. No refunds will be offered after July 31st, 2022 due to the need to finalize events, supplies, and programming. Email usksandiego@gmail.com for a refund request.
Events
Do I have to purchase a Workshop to join the other events? No. Social events such as Drink & Draw on Friday and the two weekend Sketchwalks are now open to all. The Workshops are still limited to Seminar ticket-holders only, and the Art Show Reception is for ticket-holders or artists whose works are exhibited.
I’m interested in a specific workshop. Can I indicate a preference during registration? Yes, absolutely! However, slots for each workshop are limited and will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration process will determine current availability and guide you accordingly. If you are unable to select your first preference, there is unfortunately no wait-list mechanism.
Who can attend the Art Show Reception? Seminar ticket-holders (that is to say, Workshop participants) have a free pass to the Reception. But so too does any artist whose work was accepted for jury review, even if they are not a Seminar attendee.
Can I bring a “plus one” to the Art Show Reception? Yes.
How do I enter my artwork in the Art Show? Everyone is enthusiastically encouraged to apply online.
How would I get paid if someone buys my artwork at the Art Show? If you have a Venmo or Zelle account, buyers can scan your QR code to send money directly to you. You should include a screenshot of your QR code with your submission. See the Zelle and Venmo sites for a better explanation.
Venues
Where will all the events be located? Events will take place in Little Italy, Balboa Park, and Seaport Village. The community piazza will be the sole meeting point in Little Italy, unless you choose to explore on your own. The Seaport walk will begin at the Embarcadero and wander the nearby areas. Balboa Park is actually quite large, but we will begin at the eastern end by the Moreton Bay Fig Tree, which is located directly between Spanish Village (site of the Art Show) and the San Diego Natural History Museum. Agenda details here.
Will the events be accessible to someone with mobility issues? All event sites, including Workshop locations, Gallery 21 (Art Show), Piazza della Famiglia (Drink & Draw), Sketchwalks, restrooms and restaurants are accessible to participants using wheelchairs or mobility equipment.
Accomodations
I’m from out of town. What hotel locations are suggested? Downtown San Diego has thousands of hotel rooms to choose from in the Cortez Hill, Little Italy, and Harbor areas. Seaport Village and Little Italy event locations are easily accessed on foot from these downtown hotels. The Balboa Park venue is a bit longer walk from downtown, but is also easily reached via ride share.
I’m local, but driving in. What are my parking options? Streetside parking might be found in Little Italy, but there is also a parking structure directly adjacent to the community piazza. In Seaport Village, there are lots in the Village as well as at the Embarcadero and behind the Convention Center. For Balboa Park, there are many parking areas at the eastern end, not the least of which is the huge lot outside the San Diego Zoo.
