Call for Submissions – Urban Sketchers San Diego 2022 Seminar

The goal of the USk San Diego 2022 Art Show — Explorations in Urban Sketching — is to showcase the urban sketches of our fellow artists, done at any location, in any medium, in sketchbook or framed art format. The exhibition will be open to the public, and all skill levels will be represented.

The deadline for submission is August 31, 2022. Artists will be notified of accepted entries no later than September 10, 2022. Awards will be announced on October 1, 2022 at the gallery reception.

Venue

Exhibition of 100-120 pieces of art (framed or in journal format) will be from September 29 – October 9, 2022 at Gallery 21. The gallery is open daily from 11am-4pm.

A reception will be held at the gallery on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 1pm. Light refreshments will be served. All exhibited artists are encouraged to attend.

Eligibility

Submission of artwork for the exhibition is open to any skill level, USk members and non-members alike, 18 years and older. Attendance in the San Diego 2022 Seminar is not required. Urban sketchers must comply with USk Vision & Values. For inspiration, check out urbanksketchers.org or “usksandiego” on Instagram/Facebook.

Up to four pieces of art may be submitted digitally for jurying.

Artwork must have been created in 2019-2022.

Accepted artwork will have a maximum frame size of 20” on any single edge.

Preferred format is single pieces framed, as flat surfaces for display of journal pieces is limited.

No shipped artwork can be accepted.

Sales/Liability

Neither Gallery 21, USk San Diego, nor any affiliates will be liable for loss or damage to any work of art submitted to this exhibition. Insurance is the sole responsibility of the individual artist.

Gallery 21 obtains 20% of the sales price. If sold, it is the choice of the buyer to remove immediately or leave for the duration of the exhibit. Gallery 21 is unable to ship sold pieces.

Artwork not picked up at the conclusion of the exhibition will be donated to a local non-profit agency.

Images of selected artwork may be used for publicity at the discretion of USk San Diego.

Artwork must be high resolution at 300dpi (a ‘small’ or ‘medium’ choice on an iPhone is good).

Do not include frame or matte in your photo entry.
